Enriching Education

Cheremoya Foundation is 100% committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to have equitable access to all programs and activities we provide. No matter what. We are ever grateful to all the donors and sponsors for helping us realize this goal.

The Cheremoya Foundation has partnered with the 9 Dots organization to provide students with weekly coding classes.

Coding simultaneously fosters creativity and complex problem-solving skills. Students solve increasingly difficult challenges in class and have fun doing so.

Teachers have seen the students’ coding experience translate into improved math reasoning and step-by-step direction comprehension outside of coding class.

The 9 Dots Get Coding program uses computer science to develop critical thinking skills while encouraging a growth mindset.

The intention is to have Cheremoya students grades K-5 participate; however, this depends on funding.

We’re creating team players and future leaders through team sports. Every Thursday, kids have fun as they learn good sportsmanship, teamwork skills, and the value of physical activity. The Cheremoya Foundation funds the PE program via Got Game Sports. Experienced coaches teach students new games and enjoyable ways to get much needed exercise.

Through their Garden Ranger Program, a trained garden teacher visits Cheremoya once a week to engage students in the garden. Through 6-week rotations,  all students from the school participate in the program. The program is interactive, hands-on, and STEM-based. EnrichLA's Garden Ranger Program offers interdisciplinary garden- based classes. A trained Garden Ranger is at Cheremoya every week to care for the garden and to deliver our straightforward and cheerful curriculum. EnrichLA supplies all of the materials, seedlings, amendments and tools. EnrichLA also takes care of repairs, as needed.

Adding interesting, exciting enrichment activities continues to be a priority. We're working hard to exceed our fundraising goals to ensure Cheremoya has a competitive advantage in G.A.T.E., after-school, and all enrichment opportunities.

Universal Transitional Kindergarten is free and available for all children who have  had their 4th birthday on/by September 1 of the 2024-2025 school year.

Since 1915, Cheremoya Elementary has been serving the extended Hollywood community—providing a nurturing environment for students as they begin their academic journey and embark on the pathways of critical thought that will define their future. Located off the 101 freeway and directly below the Hollywood Sign, Cheremoya is the home public school to UTK-5th grade children of the Beachwood Canyon, Bronson Canyon, and The Oaks neighborhoods. We acknowledge that Cheremoya Avenue Elementary School resides on the ancestral lands of the Tongva and the Chumash.
